Developed as a joint venture between the Japanese factory, Oxfordshire-based Prodrive - the people who helped Subaru to international rally success - and Subaru (UK), the P1 (Prodrive One) was offered only as a two-door saloon. Fitted with a revised version of the rally engine with recalibrated electronics and developing no less than 280bhp, 69bhp more than the standard Impreza Turbo, this was a quick car. Combine that with a big-bore exhaust, quick-shift gear linkage, 17-inch titanium finish alloy wheels and a rally proven suspension set-up, and you've got the fundamentals of something rather special.
This UK supplied car was first registered in September 2000. This low(ish) mileage (76,000) Subaru P1, is being sold from a private collection and is presented to Auction with its original Subaru service booklet showing a reassuringly comprehensive ten service stamps, together with an additional invoice for the last service carried out at 74,453 miles in August 2015.
Much debate rages about what is, in fact, the best Impreza, and the P1 would certainly be a contender. Its production run wasn't long and only just 1,000 were built, it received rave reviews at the time and it has since gained cult status. Track down a decent example and you'll have a car that could well be a long-term appreciating modern classic.
