DESCRIPTION
Introduced in 1934, the Wolseley Nine was built for just two years. It was a conventional medium sized car for its time with a separate ladder frame chassis equipped with all-round semi-elliptic leaf-sprung suspension and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Three types of coach-built body were available, Saloon, Tourer and Limousine, which were surprisingly roomy given the overall dimensions of the car. It was effectively, a smaller version of the six-cylinder Wolseley Hornet.Power came f _x000D_

rom a four-cylinder 1,018cc overhead cam engine which drove the rear wheels via a conventional four-speed manual gearbox and rear axle arrangement. The car was capable of a top speed of approximately 59mph which although not exactly exciting, was quite respectable for a car of this type in the mid "30s. Just over 7,200 examples had been built by 1936 when the Nine evolved into the Wolseley Wasp which had a slightly larger I,069cc engine developing 32bhp with a top speed of 64mph.Originally manufactured in 1934, this Wolseley was registered on a buff logbook in Middlesex during 1958 and was re-registered again with a new V5C in 1988. We are informed by the vendor that this charming little pre war car drives very well. What it lacks in pace it more than makes up for in bags of charm and character.
