SUMMARY
A delightful TF in cream and green. Much travelled, much loved and gently patinated, but all the better for it.
DESCRIPTION
- The VIN on this venerable 1954 TF 1250 Midget tells us that it was originally built in right-hand drive for the 'Export Market' (Kenya, Rhodesia or Australia ) and finished in Black Cellulose paint
- This fits in with our vendor's information that the MG was despatched to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) when new, before spending a few years in California, and a few more in Switzerland before returning to the UK in 1991/92
- At some point on its travels it's been repainted in Ivory and, probably some time later, the seats, door cards and dash top have been retrimmed in Apple Green
- A cheerful little elephant mascot sits on top of the grille, maybe something to do with its time in Sri Lanka, however, there is a substantial history file with the MG which may provide a few clues
- It still retains lots of classic MG touches including octagonal instruments, a 'Bakelite' rimmed sprung steering wheel, chrome luggage rack and a 'fly-off' handbrake
-
The MG was first registered in the UK on 01/02/1992 (GSK 593) and has been with its current owner for ten years
-
New front brake cylinders were fitted and the cylinder head rebuilt this year
- It would benefit from a little 'detailing' but then again, if you had spent 70 years travelling the world you may well end up looking a bit 'lived in' as well
- A great opportunity to just enjoy this globe-trotting little MG for the next few years
