SUMMARY

A genuine 1965 1275S sold new to the Isle of Man and subsequently prepared for competition with FIA accreditation (now lapsed).

DESCRIPTION

  • An original right-hand drive 1275S finished in Tartan Red and supplied new to the Isle of Man
  • According to the Heritage Certificate its build date was 18/02/1965 and it was despatched on 30/03/1965 to Mylchreests Motors Ltd. in Douglas
  • It appears that at some point, the 1275S was prepared on the Isle of Man for Tarmac Rallying. There are battered FIA 'Appendix J'  Type Compliance papers with the car but they are not vehicle-specific.
  • When purchased by our vendor in 2005 he believes that the car had the following modifications: Manx Racing Developments (Bill Quine) 1275cc Stage 4 engine fitted with a 45 DCOE Weber, straight-cut drop gears and gearbox, limited-slip differential, Hi-Los all round, Bilsteins front and rear, Minlite wheels, fully piped fire extinguisher and a 10/6-point full roll cage
  • Our vendor undertook a full nut and bolt strip down inside and out and refinished the car in its original Tartan Red. We understand that the mechanical spec is as he bought it. The dashboard area was restructured removing the navigators box and now looks period correct and the seats, belts and carpets all appear new
  • We encourage interested parties to inspect this little 1275S in order to establish its future potential

Vehicle History

Remarks

The Isle of Man is synomynous with tarmac rallying and this is where the S has competed “no forests for this little beauty”, no major incidents as can be seen with a close examination. The S is “set up” to compete in sprint races, or you may prefer to proceed further onto rallying.
