SUMMARY
Jaguar 240 saloon offered from long-term ownership at a sensible guide.
DESCRIPTION
- The final development of the Mk2, the 240/340 range was introduced in September 1967 with the 240 still available until early 1969
- Differences from the Mk2 were mainly cosmetic with reshaped rear bodywork, slimmer bumpers and Ambla upholstery
- The 240 engine now had a straight-port cylinder head, twin HS6 SU carburettors and offered 133bhp at 5,500rpm and 100mph
- With its long-term owner since 1994 and in the family for circa 25 years previously
- Originally white, the car was refinished in black many years ago although now showing signs of wear and would benefit from some TLC
- Black Ambla interior with traditional polished wood veneers in need of refreshment
- It received national prominence as a General Election car where it was used with loudspeakers during campaigns, most notably with the late Tony Benn and Michael Foot
- Good service history within its current ownership including circa £7,000 recommissioning in 2013, and clutch replacement earlier this year and a recent gearbox change at Jaguar specialist
- Vehicle is located in Milton Keynes
