A remarkable Garage Find, one owner from new, 11,836 miles and fresh from 33 years storage.
DESCRIPTION
- In order to prepare the Mini for the 1970s, it was restyled with a boxier front end featuring a full width grille, larger headlights and a revised front bumper. The new model was offered in two trim levels: the Mini Clubman and the Mini 1275 GT
- The new GT featured a 1,275cc four-cylinder A-Series, a four-synchro, close-ratio, 4-speed manual gearbox, a tachometer, and 10" Rostyle alloy wheels fitted over 7.5" Cooper 'S' disc brakes
- Finished in Bronze Yellow over black vinyl, this example dates from 1970. With an indicated mileage of 11,836 and stickers confirming the next service at 13,438 miles and the tax disc expiring at the end of June 1990, we assume the car was taken of the road in late 1989/early 1990
- The bodywork and interior do seem to remain in remarkable condition. It almost feels as though a soapy wash and a good valet would have it back in shape
- The engine bay however is not so good and the car will undoubtedly need a full mechanical recommission
- As with any classic car needing work to get back on the road, we would encourage any prospective bidders to come along to the NEC and inspect the car so they can see for themselves what may, or may not need doing. Consequently it's presented to auction as it was found
