SUMMARY

A remarkable find, one of Jeff Uren's legendary 'Commanche' Capri conversions from its one and only owner having covered just 36,946 miles from new.

DESCRIPTION

  • Engineer, Ford Team Manager, British Saloon Car Champion and entrepreneur, Jeff Uren, is probably best known for his bespoke conversions of Ford Cortinas, Capris and Escorts in the late 1960s
  • Over 1,700 modified Fords, the majority Cortina 'Savages', emerged from Jeff Uren Ltd. in Hanwell
  • In the case of the Capri, the 'Comanche' conversion consisted of gas flowed heads, high comp pistons, bigger cam, lightened and balanced, re-jetted carburettor topped off with an oil cooler and electric fan giving an additional 55bhp over the standard Essex
  • 170, 180 and 190bhp options, FYB 846K was the lucky receiver of the 190bhp package
  • Supplied by Whites of Taunton, main Ford Dealer to its one and only custodian from new, and showing just 36,900 miles
  • Finished in Maize Yellow with a black vinyl interior and matching black vinyl roof
  • Starred in The Car is the Star  (BBC) in 1994. Regular magazine features over the years
  • Lovely history file including many old MOTs and lots of correspondence regarding the conversion
