SUMMARY

The XR3 - sharp, handsome and a touch extrovert, a description that could equally well still apply some 40 years later.

DESCRIPTION

  • No one could do 'go-faster' quite like Ford and, at its unveiling in August 1980, the XR3 represented a master class in addenda-driven design
  • The whale-tail spoiler and the distinctive cloverleaf alloy wheels both became instant classics
  • 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, CVH unit offered 86bhp and 0-60 in 8.5 seconds
  • Finished in crisp Strato Silver accented in black with the correct 'cloverleaf' alloys, this example presents really well and is ideal for weekend shows
  • Tidy, unmolested interior with that evocative grey and white 'deckchair' cloth
  • Recently serviced, with a cambelt and a fresh MOT issued in September, this lovely pre-injection XR3 is ready to be enjoyed
