SUMMARY
Believed to have been featured by the factory in their launch brochure and modelled by Corgi Cars, this 58,000-mile Vanden Plas SD1 is rather special.
DESCRIPTION
- This rare example was the Factory press car and Austin Rover brochure car with the Factory-issued registration number A24 WOE
- Understandably, as a Factory demonstrator, it was finished in the very stylish colour combination of Opaline with Bitter Chocolate leather
- Originally designated for Australia and factory-fitted with an Australian home-market fuel-injection system but, in the event, never went there
- A24 WOE was used by Corgi Models as the basis for a run of 1,000 Special Edition collectable model cars, one of which is included in the sale
- Subject to a full restoration around ten years ago with three photo albums documenting the process
- Recently serviced with a fresh MOT (no advisories). The air conditioning still works well
- Vanden Plas examples of the SD1 rarely come to market and, with its factory and Corgi connections, A24 WOE would fit nicely into any collection of important Rovers
