SUMMARY

Now converted to fully electric, retaining as many of the original features as possible and marrying modern technology with the traditional Defender 90 feel.

DESCRIPTION

  • Family-owned since 2012, this Defender 90 was used as a daily driver receiving regular maintenance over its c.80,000 miles
  • In 2021, it was delivered to London Electric Cars (LEC) who were tasked with converting the vehicle to fully electric using a system that did not involve modifying the chassis, steering, suspension or brakes
  • This was achieved by removing the original combustion engine, gearbox, fuel tank, fuel lines and exhaust and replacing them with a Nissan Leaf electric motor, inverter and NCM batteries. Three battery packs totalling 30kWh are mounted in the car, one in the front engine bay, one where the fuel tank used to be, and one in the rear under the floor
  • The car had been resprayed by a local body shop in Kent in 2014 and a retrimmed interior was fitted during its conversion at LEC
  • Supplied with invoices for maintenance since 2012 and some documents for work prior, along with all the paperwork and invoices for the £37,500 conversion by LEC
  • Now benefitting from no congestion, ULEZ or Road Tax charges, with free residents' parking in many London boroughs
  • A remarkable conversion and, perhaps, the way forward
