SUMMARY

One of only 200 special-edition Imprezas created to celebrate winning Subaru's second WRC Manufacturer's title at the Rally of Spain in Catalunya.

DESCRIPTION

  • The Catalunya was built to celebrate Richard Burns winning the Catalunya round of the previous year's World Rally Championships
  • It was based on the UK Turbo 2000 with some attractive upgrades such as body colour-matched door handles and mirrors, red and black upgraded seats and door trims, a numbered plaque, air-conditioning, interior mats with logos and Limited Editions Catalunya badges on the rear
  • The model sat on 16″ gold alloy wheels, and like the previous McRae model, just 200 cars were produced by Prodrive. It was priced at £21,160 and entered dealerships in March 1997
  • This smart example is 105/200 and looks very impressive in Black Mica (tiny red flecks) with gold alloys and unusually, features a black leather interior
  • It's powered by the stunning EJ20 2.0 boxer engine with that amazing burbling exhaust sound, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. A new cambelt and a new clutch were both fitted within the last couple of hundred miles
  • It has covered 92,500 miles and has been enjoyed by two previous keepers in the same family, and retains all of its original books and a stamped Service Book along with a good history file
  • Records indicate that there are only 100 of these cars left in the UK (mid-2022) of which only 17 are currently on the road. It's not known how many of these have the factory full leather trim
  • This Catalunya is an appreciating, original, classic and, in a world where many have been broken for parts or modified, unmolested cars are getting harder to find particularly in this cared-for condition. Imprezas of all denominations seem to go from strength to strength in terms of collectability and we welcome any inspection of this rare Catalunya

The son, Mark Fish, is well respected in the motorsport industry and has prepared cars for racing well as competing successfully in many race series himself. The car has a full Subaru dealer history from Lavender Hill Subaru up to approx 49k miles. After that Mark and his father serviced the car themselves and there is a stack of paperwork regarding their maintenance of the car. Car was last serviced in 2020 and has driven less than 100 miles since.
