SUMMARY

Radical yet civilised and, with a mid-mounted 130bhp, 2-litre Zetec, seriously quick.

DESCRIPTION

  • DARE UK ('Design And Research Engineering') was founded in 1990 by Ivor and Trevor Walklett of Ginetta fame
  • The Dare DZ was a mid-engined road rocket launched in 1998 and featured futuristic-looking GRP bodywork like nothing else on the market
  • It was built around a composite chassis with a moulded-in tubular steel framework
  • Suspension was independent all round by means of wishbones and coil spring dampers while there were vented disc brakes on all four wheels, gripped by four-pot alloy callipers at the front
  • S279 TPU is the first of only ten DZs made, six of which were convertibles
  • It was the factory's demonstrator, being displayed on its stand at the 1998 Motor Show
  • It has also appeared on 'Top Gear' driven by Vicki Butler-Henderson and has featured in magazines including 'Top Gear' and 'Speed & Style'
  • Originally supercharged, but returned by the factory to twin Webers with K&N filters
  • Less than 30,000 miles and supplied with a substantial history file
  • The factory is still operational, building early Ginettas and they have the moulds, spares and can service/restore the car. https://www.dareuk.com/
  • With 130bhp and weighing around 700kg, the DZ is quick and with its distinctive looks turning heads everywhere this incredibly rare little car offers great value for money
