2001 Morgan Aero 8

Lot: 114

Sold for (£): 27,030
Offered for sale is a 4.4L 2001 Morgan Aero 8 manual that has been with the current owner for the last 10 years. Coming with a partial history file, this lot's condition scores an impressive 114 / 135.

Classic Car Auctions says:

This is a highly sought after early series 1 car and was car number 47 off the production line, series 1s are easily identifiable by knock off wheels and a glass rear window. The vehicle sustained light frontal damage to the lights, front panel, & amp; grille in 2004. It was subsequently deemed repairable by the insurance company but the insured did not want it back after the accident. In response to that the insurer sold it as damaged but giving it the lightest of repairable categories CatD. The vendor subsequently bought it from the insurer. The car was sent to aluminium repair specialists Panelcraft in Swindon where it was rebuilt to as new condition. It has had very little use since then hence the low warranted mileage.

Vendor Condition Report

Overall: 114 / 135

Bodywork: Glass:
Paint: Chrome:

Nothing obvious to detract from the excellent appearance. Way above expectations for a 14 yaer old car but not brand new.

Door-cards: Carpets:
Seating: Headlining:
Dashboard: Boot:

Extremely good interior with very little wear commensurate with a 5000 mile car

Components: Starting:
Appearance: Running:

The engine can probably be described as "as new". The 4.4 litre BMW V8 is capable od doing 200k miles and this one has only done 5000.

Gears: Drive-shaft:

As with the engine the 6 speed manual transmission is as new. It probably could now do with an oil change due to age not mileage.

Running Gear

Axles: Chassis:
Suspension: Bearings:
Brakes: Wheels/Tyres:

No faults in driving and commensurate with mileage.

Minor: Major:

The electrics are all in good condition but this model of Morgan utilises the BMW Mini electric power steering pump. They are known to be noisy and this one is too.

Vehicle History

Unfortunately no service book was passed to the vendor by the insurance company but the V5 and some MOT's are present. The vendor can warrant the mileage as he has been the keeper of the car for most of it's life. Servicing has been done by the vendor and Panelcraft (both qualified engineers). The vendor will include a statement testifying to the low mileage.
