Remarks

Autopaints Brighton has carefully matched the paintwork and Nene Valley Body Repairs expertly ensured the correct matting agent to create the 2CV’s trademark ‘non-gloss’ finish. 2CVs of this vintage should not be shiny. The original manufacturing imperfections remained too, right down to the spot weld marks. If you ever see a shiny, perfectly straight ‘ripple bonnet’ 2CV, then it is not authentic! For safety, the headlights used are brand new and from a later 2CV model giving increased visibility at night.

Vehicle History

Remarks

The car was bought new in France in 1954 and was imported to the UK by a Mr Brian Andrews of Barnet in 1963. He ran the car until 1975, when he stored the vehicle until it was bought by Citroen enthusiast David McWilliams in 1997. Mr McWilliams intended to restored the car but stored it instead, until James Walshe (Deputy Editor of Practical Classics magazine) bought the car in November 2017 and had the car fully stripped, restored and rebuilt at great cost, retaining the original chassis, shell and panels.
