Lot No. 657 -
1938 Austin Heavy 12/4 Pick Up
Sold for: £17,750
Looking as though it has just emerged from a delivery to Downton Abbey...
An incredible tale of ownership and dedication comes with this evocative pick up in incredible condition
Restored over a period of years since 1994 by its former keeper, this is a piece of automotive history
Originally created as one of just six of these pick ups made by apprentices at Longbridge, it was ten years old when finally registered in 1938
Assembled from spare parts, these were all almost certainly unique, this one has an engine from 1924 and a chassis from 1927
A history file including copies of original bills of sale, buff log books and more accompany this exceptional vehicle
Most Heavy 12s were the London taxi of the day, this is a seriously rare opportunity to acquire a great promotional vehicle
