Lot No. 815 -
1978 Lancia Montecarlo Series 1
Sold for: £17,820
An eye-catching, mid-engined Italian classic indicating just 27,900 miles...
The Lancia Beta Montecarlo was the first car to be fully designed and built in-house by Pininfarina. This compact two-seat sports car was originally intended to be sold as the Fiat X1/20, however, once the opportunity to offer the car at a higher premium presented itself, the responsibility of development was delegated to Lancia.
This UK supplied, right-hand drive car was first registered in August 1978. Presented in a lovely shade of Lancia Blue with a contrasting light brown cloth interior, this rare series one Lancia Montecarlo two-seat sports car previously formed part of a private collection and we are told has been kept in a heated garage for the last 6 years. Described as benefiting from a respray around 9 years ago the car still looks really fresh and the interior is said to be great condition with minimal signs of wear. The mechanical aspects of this low mileage Lancia are described as "good to very good"by the vendor and it is MoT'd until April 2017.
Acquiring a mid-engined, Pininfarina built Italian classic would normally require pretty deep pockets, both to buy and run, but there are one or two exceptions though, one of which is the distinctive Lancia Beta Montecarlo.
