Is the March auction going ahead?

Yes it is, however, due to the ongoing threat from Covid-19 and in order to comply with Government guidelines, we have made significant changes to ensure that the health and safety of both our staff and customers remains a priority. Consequently, we are going ahead through the medium of a 'Timed Auction' and will be offering ten lots a day over a 12-hour window (8am-8pm) starting on Saturday 28th March for a total of 16 days.

What is a 'Timed Auction'?

Lots will be offered for a set period only and bids will need to be placed before the 'window' closes. We welcome commission bids from now on (all of the lots are currently live on Proxibid's website) but once the 'window' has closed (see below) no further bids will be accepted. The whole process takes place online and there will not be an Auctioneer seeking bids. Once the reserve is met, the person with the highest bid 'wins' the lot and formally becomes 'The Buyer'. 

How do I register for the timed auction?

You must register in advance with Proxibid, our online bidding platform partner as this is the only method of bidding in this sale. As it is a timed auction, you will need to make sure you bid within the 12-hour window (8am - 8pm) on the particular day when the relevant lot is being offered. Please ensure you register in advance, providing two forms of ID, and allowing enough time for them to process this information. By registering, you will be able to participate in any of the 16 day sale. You can watch Proxibid's guide to registering, here. 

What do I do if I am struggling to register online?

How do I bid in the timed auction?

Once registered with Proxibid, you can access the auction here. You can choose to either bid live for the relevant lot during the 12-hour window on the sale day, or alternatively, you can leave a commission bid online, in advance of the day. If you prefer to leave an online commission bid, simply enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the Lot and Proxibid’s dynamic, auto-bid function will bid on your behalf up to the maximum amount. Can I bid now?

Yes. All of the lots are currently live on Proxibid's website now, where you can place a commission bid now if you wish. 

Are all the lots going through on one day?

No, only ten lots are going through each day starting on Saturday 28th for 16 days; please refer to our lot list for specific dates.

Will all lots finish at 8pm?

No, the ten lots on offer each day will finish at approximately 6-minute intervals to avoid them all finishing at the same time. The first lot of the day will finish at 8pm and the intervals will commence from then. Each lot on Proxibid will have a unique end time which will countdown on the day of the sale. 

What happens if I bid during the last minute?

If you bid within the last two minutes of the sale, the bidding window will be extended by a further two minutes to eliminate sniping. This process will repeat until all bidding has been completed. 

Where can I view a car in more detail?

You can view the car in detail on our website, where some items from the car's history file will be displayed and, in addition, we are obtaining from our vendors a video of each vehicle, to help you inspect it more closely.

Who do I speak to about a specific lot?

On every lot page there will be a consignor’s name, email address and telephone number. They will provide you with all the relevant information as they have been working closely with the vendor of each vehicle.

Can I view the history documents?

We are loading the supplied history files from each vendor onto the website with the relevant lot, so you can read them at your leisure.

Where are the cars located at the point of bidding?

Due to Covid-19, we do not have the cars in our possesion - they remain with their respective vendor. Once the travel restrictions have been lifted, cars will be moved to our central location and you will be notified of the arrival of your car

How do I know the description is accurate if I can’t see the car in person?

Our consignors work very closely with the vendors of the cars and look through the history files of the vehicle. The detail is supplied by the vendor and we check this to the best of our ability using all the knowledge and skills we have in the business.

Are any cars offered at No Reserve for this timed sale?

All cars for this timed sale now carry a pre-sale estimate which has been agreed by our valuation committee. Please refer to our lot lists to view the estimate for each lot.

What is the buyers premium for this timed auction?

To thank our buyers for continuing to support us during this changing and challenging climate, we have reduced the Buyers Premium to 8% (9.6% including VAT) for this sale.

Does the usual additional (online) 1% buyers premium apply for this timed sale?

Usually there is an additional 1% buyers premium when purchasing online, however, on this occasion this has been waived and the overall Buyers Premium is 8% (9.6% including VAT).

What happens if I am successful in purchasing the vehicle?

The following morning, the CCA accounts team will email you an invoice with instructions on how to make payment. Payment can only be accepted by bank transfer and is due by 5pm the next working day. 

Where will the car be if I have been successful in purchasing it?

You will be notified when your vehicle is being delivered to our central collection point EM Rogers in Northampton (NN5 7UA). This will only happen after the Covid-19 lockdown has been lifted. 

There will be a £25 +VAT handling fee and £10+VAT per day storage fee from this point. You can collect from Northampton or EM Rogers, our transport partners, can offer a longer storage service/delivery service if required and this can be arranged by contacting them directly on 01604 755 511.

Where are EM Rogers based?

They are a well established and well respected transport and storage company based in Northampton (NN5 7UA).

If I feel that the description wasn’t accurate and I have any concerns, will your approach be flexible?

We do want you to be happy with your purchase, but if the vehicle is not as anticipated we will be happy to discuss that with you. This is a new process for all of us and our future depends on dealing fairly with both vendors and buyers alike.
