36 VMU was supplied by Messrs Tamplins of Twickenham on 31st August 1959 to a Mrs Gibbs of Stansted Abbots, Herts. She kept the Frogeye for 18 months, selling to a Mr Roff who would appear to have owned it until 1998. Passing through the hands of only two more owners in the next 17 years, the car was acquired by its current owner in 2015 as an addition to his small collection of high-quality classics. At this time, the decision was made to upgrade the Frogeye to make it safer and more enjoyable to drive on today's roads. To that end, a later 1275cc engine was sourced and professionally rebuilt to a high specification. This was then mated to an appropriate gearbox and a rare 3.5 differential was fitted to facilitate more relaxed touring. The brakes were upgraded to include a front disc conversion with a servo added for good measure. A front anti-roll bar was also incorporated. This lovely Frogeye has the look of a standard car and still incorporates several original features including the totally unspoilt interior. It is, however, far more usable than the original and very satisfying to drive. Sadly, the recent acquisition of a 'Big Healey' has necessitated the sale due to limited garage space.
