Vehicle History

Remarks

ANU 407A was built on the 5th November 1963 and finished in Triumph Racing Green with Black trim and hood. The TR was shipped from King George Dock, Kingston upon Hull aboard the vessel 'Bataan' and was then supplied new by Standard Triumph Motor Company Inc, San Francisco, California, USA. This genuine California car was supplied new with overdrive, leather seats, wood veneered fascia, wire wheels and still retains its correct original engine is, therefore, a matching numbers car. The TR4 came over to the UK in 1994 and was comprehensively restored and sold by Grundy Mack Classic Cars in 1998 they reported that the car had a recent bottom end engine rebuild and also commented on the car having excellent paintwork, bodywork and high standard of upholstery. The TR was converted to right-hand drive format before coming back to us in 2001 when we sold it to a long-term regular customer who owned the car for sixteen years. Since 2001, the TR4 has had regular local summer use and was a true delight to own. Over the fourteen years, the TR4 only covered around 1,000 miles averaging just over 70 miles per year. Every year the Triumph has been put through an MOT test and serviced and therefore ready at any time to be taken out, driven and enjoyed. Over the recent long-term ownership, the TR4 has only seen rain once, during its farewell drive the day before being driven Grundy Mac Classic cars who exchanged her for a TR6 they sold the TR4 quickly during the summer of 2015 and carried out an extensive programme of work at the request of its new owner. This included removing the cylinder head and carrying out an unleaded head conversion. They then inspected the engine and undertook a bottom end rebuild to include new piston rings, conrods and bearings. Further work included vapour blasting the carburettors and manifolds, fitting a new rear bumper and more recently the TR has been treated to a new servo, brake master cylinder and Kenlowe fan. During 2015 the car was sold to a client in Wales who due to change in circumstances only kept the car 12 months. On arrival back with, we quickly sold the car to a long-term customer who has enjoyed using the TR in good weather only. The TR has covered in the region of 1000 faultless miles. The Triumph comes with a comprehensive file of invoices dating back to 1995 and as a result, we have evidence to show how well maintained this car has been. Although the car has covered such low mileage in recent years, it has had annual improvements and lots of detailed work carried out. More recently, the TR4 has been treated to a full re-paint due to the 20-year old plus paintwork fading in areas. The car today has a stunning, gleaming finish and is complemented by the BRG painted wire wheels. The bodywork is superb with lovely straight panels and clean lower wings and wheel arches that have no rust issues. The car is structurally excellent and certainly presents incredibly well. The chrome work is of a very high standard, the hood is excellent and the engine bay has nicely painted inner wings. The upholstery is outstanding considering the car was re-trimmed so many years ago. The black with white piping seats are very smart, as are door cards, carpets and walnut dash. The car has a smart interior and has clearly been incredibly well looked after since restoration. On the road, ANU 407A is impressive with excellent performance and a strong engine holding very good oil pressure. The TR is quick, holds the road superbly and has a strong gearbox with working overdrive. The brakes have been regularly serviced and are therefore efficient, the steering and handling are tight and the TR4 is fabulous fun on the road. This is a great opportunity to purchase a top class driving and beautifully presented TR4 that is capable of regular use. It feels honest, usable and really must be enjoyed.
