1972 Volkswagen Beetle GT

Lot: 547

Sold for (£): 4,290
Offered for sale is a 1.6L 1972 Volkswagen Beetle GT manual that has been with the current owner for the last 6 years. Coming with a partial history file, this lot's condition scores 65 / 135.

Classic Car Auctions says:

A rare Bug indeed...  The GT Beetle was a limited edition (2,500) VW Beetle sold in 1973 in 3 unique colours, Lemon Yellow, Apple Green and Tomato Red, and was based on a European 1300S. It had its own interior cloth material, gearstick, tunnel tray, padded dashboard, large rear light cluster, 4.5J steel wheels, and front disc brakes. Fitted with the 1600 engine and uprated gearbox it could reach speeds in excess of 80mph.

Little is known of the history of this Tomato Red example apart from the fact that it's had five owners in 44 years (our vendor for 6) and has undergone a complete body restoration some two years ago which is supported by photographs. This rare and distinctive Beetle GT presents well and would be welcome anywhere.
