Offered for sale is a .998L 1965 Wolseley Hornet MK2 manual that has been with the current owner for the last year. Coming with an extensive history file, this lot's condition scores an impressive 124 / 135.

Amazing, low mileage Mk2 recently emerged from long-term hibernation...

  • The second generation of Wolseley's 'posh' mini with the 998 Cooper engine and running gear.
  • Laid up in 1976 in a heated garage, this incredible timewarp has covered a warranted 24,635 miles
  • Presented in its original Birch Grey/Yukon Grey paintwork. Original body panel serial tags in all the correct factory places. Factory spot-welds all still visible.

53-year-old unrestored car. Some minor defects on the body but original paint in excellent and presentable condition considering. It has astonishingly no rot in any of the usual areas, lift the carpets and floor pans, inner sills, pillars, rear pockets, heel board, boot floor, bulkhead, inner arches, outer sills. Everything still looks in remarkable order and still in factory paint!

Interior is excellent and all original, some discolouring on the original red carpet but overall very close to Concours.

Complete mechanical overhaul with every serviceable and perishable part replaced. Starts, runs and drives really well Engine and gearbox are the factory fitted original and matching numbers. I've replaced all the gaskets and seals. plugs, leads, distributor, cap and points. Starter motor, Dynamo, all hoses and clips (original style wire clips), throttle cable, choke cable, heater cable, ball joints, Lockheed shoes, wheel bearings, brake pipes and hoses, 4 new Falken tyres, fuel pump and lines, new clutch and brake master cylinders (original canister type), slave cylinder, exhaust system, new water pump, new clutch kit, brake pipes and hoses.

Factory original fitted direct engagement manual gearbox with new clutch, clutch fluid lines, master and slave cylinder.

Complete mechanical overhaul, new Lockheed brake shoes all round, new origami equipment break cylinders all round, new brake pipes, new brake master cylinder, complete new bush and ball joint kit. Original and Unwelded subframes in as new condition. 4 new tyres. New exhaust system. I have kept to one side all the original parts that have needed to be replaced.

All the original wiring is in great condition with no repairs. Original lamps, interior switches. Untouched and everything working perfectly. It is still wired Positive Earth.

Shell service plan all documented right from 185 miles in 1965 up to 24,227 miles in 1976. Taken off the road in December 1976 up until I purchased it. Then in my ownership all invoices for recent mechanical overhaul for around £3,500. Service book present, original brochure present, original log book present, Heritage certificate present, current MOT certificate present with no advisories.

It was on the Shell service plan from new and was serviced at the following intervals.
